Coccinellidae: Ladybirds of Western-Europe
Subfamily Coccidulinae - Tribus Coccidulini - Genus Coccidula

     Coccidula scutellata Herbst

Harmonia quadripunctata (c) coccinellidae.net

[Morphology] Small elongated beetle very much like Coccidula rufa, but more reddish or orangey brown, not ruby.It often has distinct median spots posterolater spots. The pronotum seen from directly above is widest below the middle.

[Ecology] Reed, rush, reed mace
[Distribution] Not often reported but locally abundant. Maybe, like Coccidula rufa overlooked through it's size, habitat and the fact that it does not readily stand out as a ladybird
