[Morphology] 2.5 - 3 mm. Small elongated beetle on reeds that does not immediately strike as a ladybird. Distinguishable from Coccidula scutellata in the field from the ruby colour and no or only one large scutular spot. The pronotum seen from directly above is widest in the middle.[Ecology] Reed, rush, reed mace [Distribution] Not often reported but locally common.
