[Morphology] 3 - 4.5 mm. Ladybird from the conifer forests of mountainous areas.
The mid-line of the elytra often shows an undulating black stripe. The median and marginal spots sometimes form distinct bands

Coccinella hieroglyphica can be easily mistaken.

[Ecology] Conifers, in the Alps in high moors. Mostly picea.

[Distribution] Very rare, but less so in high alpine forests.
One unconfirmed sighting in Belgium Instituut voor Natuur- en Bosonderzoek (INBO) and some maps show presence in Britain: Fauna Europeaea
